what is he thinking!!!!
BAGHDAD — President Bush has apologized to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for an American sniper's use of a copy of the Quran for target practice, Maliki's office said Tuesday.
White House press secretary Dana Perino said Bush spoke to al-Maliki about the Quran shooting incident during a regularly scheduled videoconference on Monday. She said Bush expressed his "serious concern."
"He told the prime minister that we take this matter seriously, and he noted that the soldier had been reprimanded and removed from Iraq by his commanders," Perino said.
A statement issued by al-Maliki's office said Al-Maliki told Bush of the "disappointment and anger of the people and government of Iraq over the soldier's disgraceful action," the statement said.
Bush told al-Maliki that the sniper would face trial, it added.
Separately, the statement said an Iraqi Cabinet meeting Tuesday called for the "severest" punishment against the sniper and warned of "grave consequences" if similarly offensive actions were committed in the future.
It also called on commanders of U.S.-led foreign troops in Iraq to educate their soldiers on the need to respect the religious beliefs of Iraqis.
The U.S. military said Sunday it had disciplined the sniper and removed him from Iraq after he was found to have used Islam's holy book for target practice on May 9. The copy of the Quran was found two days later by Iraqis on a firing range in Radwaniyah, west of Baghdad, with 14 bullet holes in it and graffiti written on its pages.
On Saturday, the top American commander in Baghdad, Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, and other officers held a formal ceremony apologizing to tribal chiefs in Radwaniyah.
Bush's apology followed similar moves by the No. 2 U.S. commander in Iraq to placate the Iraqis, apologizing in separate meetings Monday with al-Maliki, Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi and parliament speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani.
The U.S. military said Lt. Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III paid individual visits to al-Maliki, a Shiite Muslim, al-Hashemi and al-Mashhadani, both Sunni Arabs _ moves underlining the American eagerness to make amends for the incident, particularly among Sunni Arabs who have become key allies in the fight against insurgents.
In their meeting in his office, al-Hashemi, the top Sunni Arab in the government, told Austin that "the feelings of bitterness and anger cannot be eased unless there is a deterrent punishment and real guarantees" such an incident won't be repeated, according to al-Hashemi's office.
Al-Hashemi expressed his appreciation for the visit but asked for a written apology from the U.S. military.
Austin underlined in all three meetings that "the soldier had in fact been removed from Iraq. He assured them that the matter was serious and that we hold our soldiers accountable for their actions," a U.S. military statement said.
Al-Hashemi's Iraqi Islamic Party also issued a tough statement Monday saying that an apology alone was not enough and the U.S. military should impose the "severest punishment" on the soldier to ensure others do not repeat his act.
Yea,ok why dont we just turn him over to them to punish. Did the DEFEATocrats already take over the government? This is insane , they should be kissing our collctive ASSES for what we're doing for them. They are in no position to be demanding an apology. What is all this.

no surprise here
A Kuwaiti man who complained about maltreatment during a three-year stay in the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, was involved in a deadly suicide bombing in northern Iraq last month, the U.S. military confirmed yesterday.
Abdallah Salih al-Ajmi, 29, whom the U.S. military accused of fighting with the Taliban in Afghanistan and wanting to kill Americans, was involved in one of three suicide bombings that killed seven Iraqi security forces in Mosul on April 26, Defense Department officials said.
So what's going on here?Whose letting these animals out of Gitmo? I thought the whole idea was to keep them in there since they want to KILL US!!! Isn't anyone paying attention.of course he is a suicide bomber,,,he's in the TALIBAN
The only upside to this is that he wont kill again. Here's an idea-lets keep the rest of those guys in the clink where they belong.
true love?? HA !
Despite a $150,000 reward on her boyfriend's head for the murder of a Philadelphia police officer, the girlfriend of Eric DeShawn Floyd concealed the fugitive for five days and did not consider ratting him out.
"It was love," said homicide Sgt. Robert Wilkins, who said that Floyd's girlfriend of two months had confessed. She has not been identified.
The couple spent the last three days in a boarded-up Kingsessing row house, relieving themselves in a bucket, while she went to the store to buy food and Newport cigarettes.
"She went out and did the errands while he stayed in the house," said Wilkins. "She never even considered turning him in."

give me a break
Oh wait, one of them was seen shooting at people on the street?Theres a shock. And I guess when the "suspects" saw the lights and heard the sirens they immediatly pulled over an complied with the officers directives.
Oh wait, they didnt?I am shocked.Leave it to the stupid main stream media to paint this as a example of police brutality when in fact those brave men have to face this kind of CRAP! every single day.I'll tell you this if I saw a guy shooting at people from a car I would not be politely asking them for there license and registration card. I'd be pulling those from the wallet after they are on the ground and cuffed. It makes me sick to see our police portrayed this way,why don't they start portraying the animals who shot officer Liczbinski in that light.

The last straw?
I read this today
HARRISBURG - The stage is set for the full Pennsylvania Senate to vote on a constitutional amendment that would outlaw same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state, although chances appear slim it will gain traction in the House.
The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the measure in an 18-8 vote today after a 30-minute debate. Moments after it passed, more than 100 people rallied in the Capitol against the amendment.
What is there to DEBATE about? There is no DEBATe!!! There is no marriage between two men ok,it is for a man and a woman. What is this nonsense! IN places like vermont and Massachusetts they let the gays get married, fine,if your gay and want to be married then MOVE THERE we dont want gay marriage in Pennsylvania.
Maybe I am getting upset for nothing but if this thing actually passes then I might have to get out of here, between the animals shooting our police and GOD forbid they should be told to keep it in there pants when they sneak into the military and then trying to take away our guns,I swear I can't take it anymore.
